Economy is bright for Entrepreneurs

Some bright news from the Economy that a recession and pandemic will not stop the Entrepreneurial spirit!  IMAGCo  had a problem and they are creating a solution.

Being a deaf substititute teacher, with the pandemic, she couldn’t read lips with children having masks. So, she couldn’t do that so she figured out that an app may be great for transcribing speech in a text visual on a phone so transcription instanteously is what her business is working on in a startup workshop.  What a great idea freeing deaf people from having to interpret speech.

What are Core Beliefs in CBT?

CBT stands for cognitive behavioural therapy, a form of talking therapy which helps people who are suffering with mental health problems. It can help to change the way you think about yourself, those around you and the wider world through addressing common underlying problems which might be getting in the way of your success, health and well-being.

During cognitive behavioural therapy, there are often core beliefs which are identified and addressed. These are often the same for many people, and most of them will fit into several distinct categories, such as love and relationships, family, work and self-esteem.

What are core beliefs?

Core beliefs are the beliefs that people have about themselves. These can be negative, such as the beliefs that other people are better than you, or that you’re not good enough for something or somebody. Cognitive behavioural therapy seeks to address some of these core beliefs which can be very limiting to your life and self-esteem.

However, core beliefs can also be positive. You may have generally positive opinions about yourself, with just a few negative beliefs which are getting in the way of your life in some way. Core beliefs are the beliefs that we hold about ourselves, and may be generally negative or generally more positive.

Why understanding core beliefs can help with so many other things

While it’s good to talk about your problems and the things which are stressing you out at the moment, many people underestimate the importance and the value of getting down to the root of the cause. Many problems are caused by core beliefs about yourself that you haven’t even though about, never mind thought about changing.

When you start to think about your core beliefs, your mind will open up to other things too. You will start to think about how your negative thoughts on body image have contributed to your negative opinions of yourself at work or your lack of confidence in the work place. You might find that you behave differently in certain situations or around certain people, and this could be done to experiences you have had in the past or during your childhood which have shaped many of your beliefs.

Core beliefs are a key part of each person’ mind, and in order to fully understand yourself and analyse what you’re thinking, you need to understand your core beliefs first.

What are some of the secrets that no one tells you when starting a home business

When starting your own business there are few myths that have to be dispelled and a few Elephants in the Room that need to be discussed to help you be successful in your business.

The Elephant is the Idea of Getting Rich, Quick on the Internet

There is no “get rich quick ideas” that are legal and work for a long time. **You can be the first** to open a legal marijuana selling business in your community that follows all the rules and pays all the fees needed to open but at some point there will be competitors who will be opening stores nearby. On the internet, there are business ideas that have made money quickly but it doesn’t last as either competitors come in the same field or Google decides to change its algorithm and your “secret get rich idea” suddenly doesn’t work anymore.

Say you find a business idea that everyone loves and pays you for in an sudden instant of money. So you then go spend the money on cars or house and you realize that “the idea isn’t as hot as it used to be” so you have to bring others into your business to expand your market. Well, you do a campaign and once you have paid your employees and affiliates who helped you make $200000 in sales but know the net profit is $50,000. Suddenly it is a business that needs staff, more investment in advertising and time and outreach and its not a “get rich quick idea” anymore.

Being in Business you have to Work!

Having been in home business with husband for 20 years, we know that owning a business is not all laptop free time and working only when we want to. We have clients who we promise to get the work done to a certain deadline so you work till 2 in the morning if you need to get it done for 8 a.m. in the morning. If the work isn’t done, you have an unhappy client and you don’t get paid on deadline. There is a myth going round that you can work 20 hours a week and make a $100,000 but you have to have automations and outsourcing some of your work for you to make that kind of money only doing 20 hours a week.

The Secret is Persistence

It isn’t a glamourous answer on the *secret to success in business* but it is being persistent even when you fail and moving forward and adapting to the current business climate to keep on as a successful entrepreneur.

The other secret is to come into The Business of At Home Business Community and get some great advice, resources, training and ideas on starting a home business (but you knew that already. 🙂 )

What Is The Biggest Obstacle You Face When Starting A Home Business?

So you want to start a home business?

When you look at starting a home business as a new entrepreneur, you look at all the things you need to do to get started.

Website

Sales Pages

Traffic

Product creation

Design graphics

Social media

Funnels – what are funnels?!

All the other requirements like taxes, books, government regulations and so on ..

All you want to do is find the customers who need your solution to their problem or what they desire…..

All the equipment or technology you need to create a functioning business can seem like the biggest obstacle to starting a home business but it is not the biggest obstacle.

The biggest obstacle to starting a home business is YOU!

Paralysis

Your brain will get overwhelmed by all the “things” you have to do in your business.

Your Mind is powerful and it is great at collecting knowledge from here, there and everywhere.

But that can be overwhelming and cause “Paralysis Analysis.”  You will become overwhelmed by all the information and get STUCK. What should I do next?!

Well… take a deep breath ..and make a step by step checklist of what you need to do and cross it off as you do it.

Perfectionism

Don’t try to be Perfect.

Perfectionism can also cause paralysis in terms of “waiting” till I get this done and it takes longer than you thought and suddenly, it has been three months of you trying to perfect a sales page.

Imperfect Action is better than no Action.

Perfect is unattainable so don’t even try for Perfect. Just Perfect Enough to get moving!

The Next Best Thing

There is no quick way to make money with a home business. It is about building a business that has systems in it to keep the cash flowing. So always following the newest idea on how to make the cash flow will get you into chasing the quick money instead of a business. It is called the “Bright Shiny Object” syndrome and the promise of the “NEW” has always moved people to buy but you don’t want to move “off your path” chasing rainbows, you want to be focused on a path to your business such that you can see how it works.

The Business of At Home Business Membership

7 ways to get the time to start a home business?

Are you stuck in overwhelm wondering how to start your own home business?

Do you find that your days are filled with your job, commuting and family chores that you don’t know how you can find the time to think about starting a home business let alone actually having the time to do it!

Ask yourself just how committed are you to starting a business that can improve your life?

You can find the time if you REALLY want to have your own business.

Here are 7 ways to find the time to start your own home business

1. Stop watching T.V.

Television is such a time waste when you think of what you could be doing in that hour to take action in your business. If you “have to be social” with the family then at least bring out the laptop or phone to work on your business while you are there.

2. Get up one hour earlier every day

If you were to get up at 5 a.m instead of 6 a.m. just think of the action you could take planning your business in the quiet of the morning. Staying up late to work isn’t recommended as you aren’t getting the sleep your body needs to work during the day.

3. Take 15 minutes a day for you

Fifteen minutes for 30 days is equal to 450 minutes or over 7 hours you have spent to move your business forward. I use a small book to write in my ideas and next action steps.

4. Take the time while commuting or waiting at appointments

Just think of the minutes and hours you spend just travelling or waiting in life that you could do something productive towards planning and taking action to start your business. I like writing down ideas and next steps in my Moleskine notebook because I like the visceral feel of the book and paper but you can just write on your phone or record your thoughts.

5. Get a Mentor

Find someone who already has a business and ask if you could ask questions of him or her about starting a home business by email or on the phone. A mentor can help you save time by preventing you from making common mistakes and helping you take action.

6. Allow yourself to take baby steps of action.

You have to celebrate whatever small action you may take every day to move forward. If you celebrate rather than counting the number of things you need to do that will help with overwhelm.

7. Read a book about business instead of a novel at bedtime

If you don’t know someone successful in business, you can read about entrepreneurs and starting a home business to absorb the lessons they have learned whether it is “The Reluctant Entrepreneur” by Michael Masterson or “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie.

If you want to learn about starting, running or growing a home business all in one place, you should join “The Business of At Home Business” membership where you can learn and implement about what it takes to start an online or offline home business all in one place!

Your Big Why -Why do you want to start a home business

Welcome this is Jane Gardner and welcome to start your own home business on Tuesday.
No don’t start it today 🙂 just start your own business Tuesday.

So,let’s start by talking about why do you want to start a home business.

For those of you who are thinking of starting a home business ask yourself “Why” first and then ask yourself “Are you willing to do the things that are needed in order to start a home business?”
“So why are you starting a home business?” Is it because you want to make more money in your life or do you want to be in control of your own life and be able to be your own boss? “Are you desperate for money?” “Are you wanting to support your family better than you are now?” Do you think that it will be a quick way to make more money but you are disillusioned because starting your own home business will always be a challenge. It will always have its freedom and it may always have its challenges as well as its triumphs. So let’s have a sit down and figure out exactly why “what’s the big why” for why you want to start a home business.

Next week, we’ll look into researching and thinking about what kind of home business you want to have. Just so you know, I am interested in talking about online Home businesses as well as offline Home business. Obviously being in a structural engineering firm, our own business that is local and we work in the local area. And obviously we’re not doing any international work or otherwise I would have mentioned it. So, but of course, now there are very few home businesses that are always local. You can always get customers on the Internet now and expand into the Internet.

So, we’ll be talking about offline home businesses as well as online home businesses.

But today I want to just sit down and ask yourself ” why you want to start a home business?”

So for example, my husband and I are in our home business and we’re both in our 50s to 60s. We’d like to retire well but basically my husband cannot retire without closing down the business or he would have to get someone else to take over. So my big “Why” is to try to figure out how I can help others start their own home business by sharing my knowledge and wisdom and some of the practical skills and technology and resources that you can use to start a home business. while at the same time, adding some revenue to our life so that we can retire.

We’ll talk about a practice as a business another day (I’ll just write that down). But our practice is not really a business. For someone who’s an individual like a doctor or dentist or an engineer where basically the business is you. So we’ll talk about that another time and another night whether you want to choose that kind of business.

But today my big why is to try and set up another business so that we can retire and enjoy our retirement as well as earning some revenue to enjoy our life while we’re retired and sharing my wisdom.
So what’s your big why?

Do you have family that you want to support? Certainly we all do have family members who need to have some support from us in terms of money. Do you have children that you want to help go to school or you want to help your grandchildren? Do you want to help other family members with some resources?
Are you looking to earn some extra revenue so that you can enjoy your retirement earlier than you expected or even not retirement just being able to support your family because the job that you’re doing right now, your day job is not fulfilling and you need another choice?

Is your Why you want to start a home business big enough so that you can be able to continue on to start your home business without quitting basically. So my big why is basically I’d like to be able to retire from our engineering firm and my husband as well and  because otherwise we’ll be working till we are 75.  So this is just my Big Why is being able to share my wisdom in order to have the revenue come in so that we can we close our engineering firm.

So what’s your Big Why?

Are you looking to support your family members? Do you have big medical bills coming up that you need to have support for? Do you have family members who are not in the best form of health and you need to help support them? Some of these things can really help you to have a think  before you start a home business to realize that you need to support yourself and your family with this.  In those days where the day is long and you’re struggling and you’re having a challenge or you don’t have the amount of money you’d like to come in that you know you have the potential to come in with your business- your WHY has to be Big!

I will help you to remember that Why you’re doing this and the days that you’re spending time in front of the computer or learning a skill or phoning up clients to find out what you need to do or even doing the work for your clients on the weekends instead of  spending  time with your family.

Are you willing to sacrifice that kind of time in order to have a better life for your family?

So that’s what you have to think about  before you start a home business. It’s whether or not you’re willing to sacrifice some time with your family or sacrifice your pleasures. Spend less time in front of the TV or take some time on the weekend and do some work that will help you move forward in your business. Or maybe you have more immediate desires to start your home business because it’s an urgent need for money. You have to realize that when you start home business you really need to have a very strong Why or why you’re doing it in order to get through the days -when you’re starting the business and when you’re struggling to get clients or you are starting to figure out something on the computer or you’re not going to your son’s baseball game because you have to do some work in order to move forward with this business.

You have to figure out if you’re willing to sacrifice that kind of time with your family in order to make a better life for your family.

So think about  your Big Why.
Why do  you want to start a home business?

Are you just tired of getting you know your current job. You don’t think it’s going to move you forward in your life. You won’t  get  the house that you wanted or the family life you want?

Are you willing to sacrifice some time and some money probably just to get started on your home business?
Whether or not, you that would sacrifice time to  get through the time that you need to work on make your whole business successful?
So next time I think we’ll talk about some of the ideas for an offline home business  because I find that no one on the Internet is actually talking about offline business.

Since we started as an offline home business,  I think we should go over some of the ideas and the things that you need to have in terms of being an offline home business. Some of the simple businesses you could have offline as a business as well as maybe  some consulting businesses you might be able to do.  So, we will talk about off line business next week.

So, have a think about your Big Why.  Think about whether or not you’re willing to sacrifice your time and maybe a little bit of money in order to get started with your Home Business.

Mindset of the Entrepreneur

Welcome. I’m Jane Gardner. And today on Mindset Monday, we’re going to talk about being an entrepreneur and what a mindset of an entrepreneur is and whether you are capable of being an entrepreneur due to your mindset. Over the next few weeks we’ll be talking about some of the ways you can be challenged as an entrepreneur in terms of your mindset and how you can conquer those challenges. You do not have to be born an entrepreneur and you can actually learn to be an entrepreneur. You can also train your mind to have the mindset of an entrepreneur.

Unlike what some people say that you have to come from an entrepreneurial family, over 50 percent of successful business owners come from the middle class and 35 percent were either poor or working class. So you don’t have to be a family member of an entrepreneur.

You can change your mind in order to be an entrepreneur. So don’t let that stop you. The idea that you don’t know what it is to be an entrepreneur should not stop you because we can talk about changing your mindset as we go along.

Ask yourself these questions because I believe that you shouldn’t quit your day job as I mentioned in order to be an entrepreneur that you should be at least thoughtful about your process etc.

So let’s ask these questions of yourself.

How many of you would you agree that.

I don’t like to risk my money.” Not at all.

“I would never think of quitting my job and risking my life savings.

“I like the idea of being my own boss. I’m not sure I would be good at it.

“I’m willing to take responsibility for my actions but I still don’t want anyone to find out about my mistakes.

I sometimes have good ideas but often have no idea of what to do.

Well, if you agree with any of those statements you are a reluctant entrepreneur at heart.I invite you to join our ranks because you don’t have to be a risk taker in order to be an entrepreneur.

As I mentioned yesterday, one of the books I highly recommend is “The Reluctant Entrepreneur” by Michael Masterson and read through that and start learning how to train your brain to be the successful entrepreneur.

So for today I want you to think about who you think is a successful entrepreneur. Next time, we’ll be talking about some of the entrepreneurs you may not know of who have conquered their inability or their fears. Being an entrepreneur and becoming a successful entrepreneur is regardless of being a risk taker or trying something without even thinking beforehand because you or anyone else can be an entrepreneur. All you have to do is try to have a positive, committed attitude and have a natural love of a challenge and the ability to manage a lot of stress and work at a high level and the willingness to take responsibility.

These are some of the ideas of having the mindset of the entrepreneur and if you don’t have them now you can certainly learn how to train your brain in order to be challenged as an entrepreneur.

My husband and I have been entrepreneurs for 20 years we work on our own. Every day is a challenge and every day is a pleasure. Every day is a day where we don’t know what the next day will bring, what work will come but we accept that work will come and we continue on. We will also have a huge pile of work for the day and know that there’s a huge pile the next day and we have to get through it.

So , you have to have a few traits of the entrepreneur to succeed. In season one, I talked to you about some of the traits of an entrepreneur. I’ll go into more detail in the second season on what the traits of the entrepreneur is and some of the ways you yourself can learn some of these traits and train your brain to have the mindset of the entrepreneur.

So I hope you’ll come along with me on the challenge and the triumph of being an entrepreneur on Mindset Monday. We’ll see you next week.

Just have a think about “are you an entrepreneur now” or “do you want to be an entrepreneur in the future.

Do you want to take action and get control of your life or at least make some extra money too as a business person so that you can have a more successful life and that you can have the things that you want and you can help your family and you can help yourself and you can control your life. So we’ll see you next week. Subscribe to the podcast on Itunes.

State of Entrepreneurial Spirit!

[svpVideo v=1]

WATCH THE VIDEO! INSPIRING!

Today, I learned about this program (that I wished I had when I was young) called Startupskool at early entrepreneurs. It is a foundation whose mission is to create a revolution of social innovators.

As mentioned on their website,

We gave a handful of elementary classrooms each a $100 micro-loan as startup capital, and asked them to raise funds for charity. Rather than running typical fundraisers such as asking for pledges, these classes used the money to start their own small businesses such as building bird houses to sell at a local market, selling green smoothies on Fridays, and creating family friendly events. These students were using their own creativity and imagination to turn our initial $100 loan into thousands of dollars for charity. Building on the success of our original experiment, we partnered with amazing educators and entrepreneurs to launch a full curriculum behind our program. Through media-based lessons and an interactive platform we’ve been able to transform over 120 classrooms across Canada into social innovators. Their efforts have since generated over $80,000 in support of local and global charities.

They now have a website where teachers can register and find out how to run their own program in their class to instill the entrepreneurial training into their children from kindergarten to High School (in Canada).  The internet program can be adapted (and it has been adapted) to other countries.  The children are given $100 for their team and they have to create $500 with a business and the team learns about marketing, costing, pricing and  product creation all through working together in a class.

It is a story like this which makes you realize that anyone at any age can learn how to have the entrepreneurial spirit.  It just takes some training and knowledge about business and guidance from mentors to help you start.

This idea that i can pass on my knowledge about business to another so they can create a business themselves is a desire for this website.  Inside The Business of At Home Business membership there is the information and step-by-step to start a business.

Education

Are you thinking that you don’t have the skills you need to do a home business?  Do you wonder how long it would take to learn the skills for a home business idea you would like to do?  Twenty years ago, you would have to consider:

  1. taking a vocational or university course at only certain times of the year
  2. the tuition costs IF you could get into the course you wanted
  3. the time off of work in order to do the course.

Now, with the internet, you have the freedom to explore different home business ideas you might be interested in.  You can change the direction of your life by getting education in a new field.  Develop your skills in a new field and see where it takes you. There are many accredited universities that have online courses for their own courses as well as developing courses for other interests.  For example, our local university has whole series of courses developed for the senior crowd to try on a part-time basis from going to Mexico and living in a town to learn Spanish or writing course hosted by well known playwright.

Ongoing education is a critical trait for any entrepreneur and I’ ll be speaking further about places and resources to learn the skills and knowledge for an entrepreneur.  To learn more about how to develop the skills of an entrepreneur, subscribe to our newsletter!
